NEW CARTOGRAPHERS

A 6 week after school program that engaged youth from the Medford, Mattapan and Dorchester Boys and Girls Clubs (MA). During the program youth made asset maps of their communities and questioned their perceptions of other neighboring regions and resources in Boston.

The program challenged traditional community planning processes and framed youth voices as critical to a holistic understanding of regional resources and needs we think about urban planning and included youth in historically marginalized communities. It also challenged how youth from communities with access to different resources view one another. A preview is included below. The full length work can be viewed here. Much of the footage was filmed by young people in the program.
