Angola Prison Rodeo
The Angola Prison Rodeo is the longest running and oldest prison rodeo in the country. The prison is the largest maximum security prison in the country. The prison and rodeo are located on a former plantation.
The event is one of the region’s most popular cultural events. It is attended by residents, tourists and family members of inmates. The biannual event is one of the few opportunities family members have to visit with relatives housed at the prison. (2012)
